When I launch tbb, my status bar briefly says "Unrecognized startup status". I wonder what it is? Is this related to the fix for #4827?

One of them is a "starting" status. This is fixed in my branch chiiph/bootstrap_event. I added some code in case this happens again, we will have some debug text to look at. Are the phases documented somewhere? I couldn't find a list.

It will go out with 0.2.18 and 0.3.2-alpha.

Replying to chiiph:

Tor provides a summary string as well as a tag string, so if you don't recognize the tag you can (and probably should) still print the summary. That will come in handy when I add another bootstrapping tag at the 95th percentile for the #3196 fix.

When I start The Linux Tor Browser Bundle Version 2.2.35-7.2 I see this too in Vidalia Unrecognized startup status, but I've never seen this in any other versions...

I see commits like 8144a2ff that look like they aim to fix this. But by ripping out *all* the strings, you prevent any translators from translating the strings on the Vidalia side.

I think the right balance is to have Vidalia know the string, and have it be translatable, but to use the string Tor provides if Vidalia doesn't recognize the bootstrap status.

True. Fixed as suggested. Thanks!
