Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. You've got the touch
  2. You've got the power
  3. Open up a browser, such as Firefox
  4. Browse to https://blog.torproject.org/
  5. Click on the browser's "RSS" button, generally near the address bar
  6. Observe

Expected result:
Browser forwards the address for the posts RSS feed to the configured RSS client.

Actual result:
Browser forwards the address for the comments RSS feed to the configured RSS client.

Note:
Generally modern browsers, when faced with what RSS feed to default to when using the browser button to subscribe on a page with multiple RSS feeds, they'll go to the first one listed off in the HEAD of a page. In the blog's case, that's the comments RSS feed. Typically when a user clicks on the RSS icon, they expect to get the posts feed.

The actual observed behaviour with any modern browser is that a menu with two entries is displayed:

  • subscribe to "The Tor Blog - All comments"
  • subscribe to "RSS - blogs"

The browser ist not forwarded at once.

The order of these two entries could be changed. Even more important would be to change the name of the second feed to "The Tor Blog - All entries" or something similar.

Per #4940, the current blog is going away. I'm not going to attempt to fix the current drupal config.

Severity: Blocker

On the current website page https://blog.torproject.org at the bottom right is an RSS link which you can click on with regular Firefox or TBB. That goes to a page that asks you how you want to subscribe to the feed. When i clicked Subscribe Now button it added a LiveBookmark icon to my bookmarks toolbar which displays new Tor blog entries - not comments. So maybe problem is fixed now or worked around or obsolete.
