"tar: A lone zero block at 146900" untarring TOBB on 64-bit Linux

When I do a tar xzf tor-obfsproxy-browser-gnu-linux-x86_64-2.3.20-alpha-1-dev-en-US.tar.gz I get

tar: A lone zero block at 146900

Shondoit pointed me at
which is apparently how we build it.

That led me to
where apparently the tardy tarball produces the same warning.

Perhaps the tardy people don't like generating correctly formed tarballs?

I suspect this is because the alpha bundles are all built on squeeze rather than lenny (which is where the stable bundles are built). Looking into it.

my copy of the tarball passes gpg --verify.
i am using lubuntu 12.04.1 x64
the last two lines i see with "tar xzvf" are

tar: A lone zero block at 140200

is this just a warning or did it fail?

Replying to keb:

Just a warning. Tarball works fine.

The TBB-for-Linux build process uses tardy as part of the fix for #2824. There might be other suitable tarball-mutilation tools, or you could switch to using one of the libarchive tools (bsdcpio or bsdtar, at least one of which can munge user and group IDs) to create the tarball properly in the first place.
