Description

HTTPS Everywhere for Chrome is preventing CNN videos from playing.

Try this link in Chrome:
http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t3#/video/sports/2012/09/16/hln-football-player-scores-ten-touchdowns.hln

If I disable HTTPS Everywhere for Chrome the video will play.

Note that this issue seems to be unique to the Chrome version of the extension. HTTPS Everywhere for Firefox does NOT interfere with CNN videos.

Fixed for me in Chrome 2012.9.21.

I have updated to the latest version of Chrome and HTTPS Everywhere for Chrome (2012.9.21) and this is still an issue for me. If I disable HTTPS Everywhere for Chrome the video will play.

Please let me know what other info I can provide to help you replicate the issue.

Oh I see, it plays the ad but dies when the real video is about to start.

That makes sense. I have Ad Block Plus installed so I don't see the ad, it just goes straight to the video.

This does not look chrome-specific to me, and it also looks as though disabling the Akamai ruleset allows the videos to play (although maybe there are some streaming performance issues involved as well, I'm not sure about that)

I can confirm that disabling the Akami ruleset allows the video to play in Chrome.

But I didn't have to disable anything in Firefox for the video to play. It always played in Firefox.

The Akamai ruleset broke that CNN video in Firefox 15.0.1 for me. However the following exclusion fixed it:
