Description

Sometimes you're not able to install any additional software on a machine.
But to be able to use TOR anyway, it would be nice if you also could offer a browser extension,
where the client is already included as an embedded part of the extension (without, that the TOR client has to run in the background or has to be installed separately).

Yeah.

Uhm.

Rewriting Tor as a Java applet, and getting all the crypto, speed, performance,
etc worked out is a huge task.

I would like to see it done sometime, for the reasons you describe, but we are
nowhere near being able to do that currently.

There are also further security concerns to think about. Right now the Tor software
gives you pretty good security against any single point in the network. But if you
are trusting some website to give you something that you will believe to be Tor,
then we move to the "Hushmail" model where people show up at the website and demand
that you give certain target users a backdoored version.

Going to mark as 'won't implement', because this is a multi-year many-person project,
and we know we want it but don't have any current plans to do it.
