Description

I installed Tor / TorButton using the Vidalia Bundle, the bundle included: Vidalia 0.0.16, Tor 0.1.2.19, Privoxy 3.0.6, TorButton 1.0.4.01-fx+tb.
I have science installed the latest updates for TorButton (1.2.0rc1)

When I opened Firefox (Version 3 Beta 4) TorButton was disabled by default!
I enabled it, and made sure that Firefox was set up to use Tor / Torbutton and Privoxy! (Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Settings)

I cannot open any web pages, because there is a compatibility issue with Tor / TorButton and Privoxy and maybe even Firefox!

Tor has the onion crossed out and even though I have it set to randomly generate a password for the control port, it ask me to enter the control password (not the hash)!
but since I have it to randomly generate the password I don't know what to put! I press OK it does not accept it, I press Cancel and it still does not work!!!

Here was the configurations I used:
Note: address:port

Privoxy used 127.0.0.1:8188
Tor used 127.0.0.1:9050 (Tor / TorButton was configured to use Privoxy, with the above information!)
Firefox was configure: HTTP and SSL Proxy 127.0.0.1:8188 and SOCKS (Firefox said SOCKS 5???)Proxy 127.0.0.1:9050

Fixing this issue allows me to have a safe and anonymous browsing experience!

When you uninstall the Vidalia Bundle 0.1.2.19-0.0.16, It misses the following files:
Tested using: Piriform's CCleaner)

Files

Temporary files:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp\~nsu.tmp

(Inside this folder is the Vidalia Bundle Uninstaller, the uninstaller should be stored locally not just in temporary storage!)

Registry Keys:

Start-up:
My Computer\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Note: HKCU=HKEY_CURRENT_USER

If it's unistalled and tries to run at start-up it gives a Windows Error Reporting Message for Tor!

I didn't send the report, hoping you will fix this problem!
The report included my computer's system information (OS, ect...) and a copy of Tor at the time the error occurred (so they can see the state of it Ex: damaged, ect...). Though a dump file was not made.

If you are having this same problem and cannot wait for them to fix it follow the below instructions:
1.Click on the start menu, click run
2.At the prompt type: msconfig
3.Click the Startup Tab
4.In the startup items column look for Vidalia
5.Uncheck the box, click apply then OK
6.Restart your computer for the changes to take effect!

You can manually delete the file and registry key too!

For the registry key:
1.Click on the start menu, click run
2.At the prompt type: regedit
3.Before making ANY changes, Back-up (File, Export...)
4.Following the above address delete Vidalia's Value
DANGER: deleting the whole key will make your startup items invalid!!!

For the file:
1.Use the above address to delete the folder (the files inside will be deleted automatically!)
2.Using Window's Disk Cleaner would work also!!!

A few things, first, privoxy listens on port 8118. You specificied 8188. Second, did you stop Tor, Vidalia, and Privoxy before attempting to uninstall?

In addition, the uninstaller in the 0.2.0.28-rc package is much improved over the -stable package.

And you are correct, torbutton 1.04 doesn't work with Firefox 3. Torbutton 1.2.0rc2 is ff3 compatible.

Sorry, That must have been a typo, I used all defaults address and ports! Yes, I stopped all their processes before uninstalling!
