A user with Windows 7 reports that he is getting pop-ups from PGP when starting the Tor Browser Bundle: "SMTP authentication failure" says: "PGP was not able to authenticate you when sending mail to the PGP Universal Server at".

I have installed It is available on the
Internet, search for "". Certain features
will be disabled after the trial period ends, but basic file
encryption/decryption will continue to work.
The MD5SUM of my copy is 4781d42b28c43e81db9865793bf13581

The current version only is available from is under
Trial-ware, "PGP Desktop Email Trialware", file
PGPDesktop10.2.1MP3_Windows. I have not tried the newer version.

I use Tor 1 or 2 times a day. The popup appears intermittently and
unpredictably at about 1 or 2 week intervals.

I do not have any e-mail client configured. In addition, in Windows 7, I
have now blocked SMTP port under "Windows Firewall with Advanced
Security" -> Outbound Rules.

"PGP Desktop listens to the network ports 25 (SMTP) and 110 (POP). Any email you send via the SMTP port is intercepted by PGP Desktop, and encrypted if a public PGP key is found, otherwise the email message is sent in clear text as usual."

My guess is that PGP gets upset when Tor uses ports 25/110.

Sounds plausible, will pass this on to the user. Thanks!
