#7790 needs_information defect

problem with Google Translate and https-everywhere

Reported by: kargig Owned by: pde
Priority: Medium Milestone:
Component: HTTPS Everywhere/EFF-HTTPS Everywhere Version: HTTPS-E 4.0dev3
Severity: Normal Keywords: httpse-ruleset-bug

Description

compiling and using a crx/xpi out of the latest version of dev tree, "To:" language drop down on Google Translate does not seem to work.

Commenting out the rule 'translate.google.com/translate/static/' in GoogleServices.xml makes it work again.
I've noticed that using https-everywhere 'http://translate.google.com/translate/static/PbBVKxlhY7M/js/desktop_module_lazy.js' is not loaded.

One can click on the "From:" language and then "To:" language becomes accessible but the "ui" is different from not using https-everywhere or not loading GoogleServices.xml

Hmmmm, I haven't ever seen any problems with Google Translate and HTTPS Everywhere. I just tested with Firefox 19 and HTTPS Everywhere 4.0development.6 prerelease, and the site worked normally for me and I was able to select languages and translate things (with HTTPS Everywhere saying that no rules applied to the current page at translate.google.com) with no errors or problems. Can you tell me what browser version you're using? Are you using the U.S. version of the Google site, and accessing Google Translate at translate.google.com?
