Description

Sometimes, when installing Torbutton in Ubuntu trough Firefox instead of trough apt-get, Torbutton claims to be using Tor when in fact it is not. Screenshot: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18249870/Screenshot-Are%20you%20using%20Tor%3F%20-%20Mozilla%20Firefox.png

Seems like this happens when Privoxy is not configured to use Tor. Would it be possible to add a test to Torbutton to check for this?

There is a nice big "Test Settings" button right in the Torbutton proxy prefs against
check.torproject.org to ensure proxy settings are set correctly.

We considered having this test run the first time you toggled Tor, but due to the inconsistent
performance of Tor circuits it can take up to two minutes with no feedback, and would block the
UI in Firefox 2 during the test.. Firefox 3's UI behaves a bit better. It's possible we can
have the test run for it the first time you toggle into Tor.
