Description

Can you create a way for Thunderbird to allow PGP to automatically encrypt and decrypt messages? I think what I am really asking is: Can you let PGP see the outgoing traffic without exposing it to the ISP and before Tor picks it up? And for incoming mail, could you let PGP see the incoming traffic right after Tor leaves off and thus after the ISP?

Automatic encryption of all outgoing mails is not possible. If the recipient does not care to support encryption, there is nothing you can do. There is however an option in Enigmail "always confirm before sending" which asks you before every mail if you want to send it encrypted or not.

Automatic encryption of all incoming mails regardless if the sender encrypted them is technically possible. Not saying I endorse the feature. Did you try asking the enigmail developers for it?

ISP will never see outgoing traffic. ISP will only see Tor traffic.

And for incoming mail, could you let PGP see the incoming traffic right after Tor leaves off and thus after the ISP?

Not sure if I understand what you are asking for... But for automatically encrypting all incoming mails, see this blog post:

proper has answered most of the points raised, but just to add to that:

There is however an option in Enigmail "always confirm before sending" which asks you before every mail if you want to send it encrypted or not.

You can do this in 0.1.1 by going to TorBirdy preferences, Enigmail Settings and select "Confirm before sending email if Enigmail is enabled".
