Transifex does not like the new bridgedb.pot file

The new bridgedb.pot file has been generated in a different way than previous files. Transifex imports the file, but wrongly displays 100% translated for each language.

I first thought this was an issue with Transifex and reported the issue on github. Jason, one of our support assistants, later emailed me a link to an FAQ suggesting there could be something wrong with the .pot file.

The new file is not much different from an older version, but contains a "Generated-By: Babel 0.9.6\n"-header and lines such as "#, python-format".

How was this file generated? does BridgeDB want files as .po or in some other format?

Hm, so oddly, all the translations report 100%, but if you click on:

You will see that the strings do not have accompanying translations. Hm.

From the link you put above:

The strings in question have not been marked for translation by the developer, hence they haven't been included in the POT file, and thus not in the PO file. He needs to use gettext on them.

The strings are definitely in the .pot file

The source files of these strings have not been marked for inclusion, in the intltool case.
The POT file of Transifex is not up to date. The component page includes the date when the POT file has been produced. If this is more than a few hours in the past, please notify the admins, otherwise it should be OK.

The date looks OK

The PO file you translated was not msgmerged. In this case Transifex will show a statistic less than 100% (since it auto-merges the files). You need to acquire the file from Tx or msgmerge it with the POT file yourself.

I'm not sure about this.

I'm more inclined to think this is a transifex bug -- see the partially translated chinese resource below, that shows up correctly:

@Transifex said it was a caching issue.

According to support forum (, I think the issue could be fixed by chaning Access Control setting.

One of transifex developers wrote in reply:

The problem happens because your project is set to Free For All, thus no teams are available. This is somehow messing the creation of the stats for the filled up resource once there is no teams to get languages from.

I believe this has now been fixed.
