GetTor body needs to be temporary changed to let users know we're working on it, instead of just sending out the long, useless help message. Something like this perhaps:
Service under maintenance! Please try again later, or use one of the following mirrors to download the latest version of Tor Browser Bundle or Pluggable Transport:

We should just resort to distributing the Dropbox links (and later GDrive), because GetTor is pretty much broken anyways. So the above message (in the description) and Dropbox links seems to be a good thing to do for now.
A new message should include information on how to download from this dist/torbrowser link. Users are frequently confused by this page. A new message should explain how to use language codes, where on the page the Pluggable Transports Browser is, which file type the need to download and probably also a link to the docs/verifying-signatures.html.en page. I would be write such a message.
This page has many links for many languages. Choose the package that ends with your language's language code.

You also need to choose the right file type for your operating system.
*.exe Windows
*.zip Mac OS
*.tar.gz Linux
Pluggable Transports Browsers (for users under heavy internet censorship) are at the bottom of the page.
You may also want to verify the contents of your package. To verify your browser, download the package you need, then download the file that has the same name, but ends with the *.asc file extension. This is the file's signature. You can read instruction on one of these pages [ENGLISH ONLY!]:
mttp's suggested text is great but as we're about to start distributing dropbox links, I thought I'd give it a try to make a few changes...
I've split the message in two parts. "Help Message" and "Download Links".
Previously we had a long list of commands. I thought it's confusing, and it'd be better if we only get the OS name and return all 3 related bundles (32bit, 64bit and PT).
Added an explicit note for Chinese and Iranian users to make sure they get the right bundle.
Removed mirror links, till we can make it smarter and return exact download link, as they only confuse users for now.
Although I tried to do my best it may still have errors, please go ahead and rephrase if needed. Just keep it minimal and simple pls.

*Bridge section shows our "ideal" future model. for now we have to put this one instead:
In order to get a list of bridges, please visit https://bridges.torproject.org/bridges or simply send an email to bridges@torproject.org. Just make sure you have "Get bridges" in the body of your message.
For the help message, I suggest we replace "Mac OS X" with "OS X" and/or "OSX". The new keyword is shorter and users are less likely to spell it wrong.
For the download instructions, I suggest we put instructions (get TBB for Windows if you're not sure, but if you're in Iran or China or Syria or some other place with heavy censorship, get PTTBB) before the download links. The section about verifying the bundle should quickly explain that this is what the .asc files are for, and ideally should also be placed before the download links. The section about bridges should explain how to use them, and also point out that most of them won't work with the normal TBB.

I think we should revisit this and change the current template, which is pretty basic (it doesn't even have signature verification message). What do you think about adding the instructions for use (install), signature verification, and use of bridges and pluggable transports as attachments? This way the user would receive a short email with three attachments. Other idea that comes to mind is add a message like this: "If you don't trust the cloud service, then you must check the integrity of Tor Browser after you have downloaded it". I'll add a template idea later tonight.
Hello again! Thank you for your request. We strongly recommend you to verify the integrityof the downloaded files, specially if you don't trust the cloud service or youthink your communications are being tampered. There is a mini-guide attached to this email explaining how to do this step-by-step.Here are the "requested-os" download links for Tor Browser:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------[Dropbox]Tor Browser (32/64-bit)https://www.dropbox.com/s/0p4oew8w2u7vzv2/torbrowser-install-4.0.1_en-US.exe?dl=1Tor Browser signature (32/64-bit)https://www.dropbox.com/s/y68hhrk378lygn4/torbrowser-install-4.0.1_en-US.exe.asc?dl=1Tor Browser checksum (32/64-bit)e41078c34785e6834657d008d0c2b0b671b793b5cbc67ebc60e8d55735504a10Key fingerprint: 8738 A680 B84B 3031 A630 F2DB 416F 0610 63FE E659-------------------------------------------------------------------------------To run Tor Browser please follow the steps described in the install guideattached to this email. We have also attached a mini-guide explaining how to use and request bridges,as well as pluggable transports. You should follow these steps if you live ina highly censored place and/or you want to hide the fact that you are connectingto Tor network.Still need help? There has been some work on integrating other cloud services, so it's possible that when we actually update this message there will be even more text to add. With that in mind, I've developed the idea of attaching files to the point of creating separate text files for each of the cloud providers, in addition to the other instruction guides. The body of the message would look something like this:
Hello there!Thank you for your request. Attached to this email you will find thefollowing files: dropbox-links.txt: Links to download Tor Browser from Dropbox. gdrive-links.txt: Links to download Tor Browser from Google Drive. github-links.txt: Links to download Tor Browser from GitHub. verify-integrity.txt: Instructions on how to verify the integrity of the downloaded Tor Browser. install-guide.txt: Instructions on how to install/run Tor Browser. bridges.txt: Instructions on how to use/request bridges. After you download Tor Browser from one of the available options, westrongly recommend you verify the integrity of the downloaded files. That's the best way to be sure that you received the correct files. Forthat purpose, please follow the verify-integrity.txt guide. To install/run Tor Browser, please follow the attached install-guide.txt.After that, it is possible that you still need some bridges to connect tothe Tor network. In that case, just follow the bridges.txt guide.Still need help? If you have any questions, trouble connecting to the Tornetwork or need to talk to a human, please contact our support team at help@rt.torproject.orgWe're ready to answer your queries in English, Farsi, Chinese, Arabic, Frenchand Spanish.--The GetTor team
First two links in the message above are DEAD. Furthermore, those links also appear in the translated versions of the message as translated in the Transifex website that the Tor project works with.
(We are reviving this again, as a part of the new GetTor code ilv is working on and that has been deployed.)
We have been discussing an updated version of the GetTor message body to make it more concise by removing redundant and complicated information. A sample template follows; discussions are welcome and encouraged.

Okay now that we've finally pushed some changes to the messages for #23226 (moved), i think it's safe to close this ticket. It was a huge tracking ticket for a major overhaul, but now it makes more sense to track individual additional feature requests separately.
