Trac switches back to default local after logging out

Now Trac gets localized, what might be useful or not (well the content is still English).

I logged in to change the language setting to English and the interface changed. Right after logging out the interface changed to my default language again.

To me, personally, a localized Trac does not make sense. I don't even know where to click to get me where I want.

Can we (read I) have some way to have it like it was before?

I should mention that this happens if you choose the language before you log in as well.

  • Don't log in.
  • Choose a language that is not your default
  • Save settings and see that those are applied
  • Log in and also set the language you prefer, but is not you default
  • Log out after applying the setting and you end up with your default language

Workarounds to have your preferred language:

  • Log-in every time, even though you're just reading
    • Create dummy account to log-in from locations you don't trust
  • Set the language setting, while not being logged in and never log-in from that machine (or browser)
  • Play with the accept-language header, which requires an add-on for Firefox

Warning to all Tor users: Option 3 makes you stick out.

I have chosen 2) for machines I have no control over and 3) my browser.

"ModifyHeaders" for Firefox appears not flexible enough for this purpose, but "HeaderControlRevived" can do simple magic per domain and includes selecting the language.

I treated this as a bug in the first place, but I assume that it is not. Respecting the settings of a user appears to be a wonderful thing. It's probably just me, that does not want that all the time (like I use Vidalia and TBB with en-US), so I'm going to close this ticket.

Feel free to reopen this ticket if anyone feels the need to.

(Thanks erinn and weasel for updating trac)
