    v1 v1
1These instructions are for OS X 10.7 - YMMV but OSX 10.7 users likely need a usbserial driver.

     3This URL is useful reading:
     4
     5  https://newit.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2128.0
     6
     7The process is:
     8
9-- install the OSX drivers from the FTDI guys (the 10.6 ones work for 10.7):
     10     http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
     11
12-- plug in the dreamplug; check system profiler USB to make sure that at a hardware level, the Mac can see something attached.
     13
14-- then replace the /System/Library/Extensions/FTDIUSBSerialDriver.kext/Contents/Info.plist with the one you get here: http://www.plugpbx.org/downloads/Info.plist.zip
     15
16-- Or instead of replacing it, you can patch it following instructions here:
     17     http://www.plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Serial_terminal
     18
19-- Then un- and reload the driver:
     20   $ sudo kextunload -b com.FTDI.driver.FTDIUSBSerialDriver
     21   $ sudo kextload -b com.FTDI.driver.FTDIUSBSerialDriver
     22
23If you get any error messages, you're doing it wrong.
     24
25-- Check console.app to see something like:
     26   kernel: FTDIUSBSerialDriver:        0 9e889e8f start - ok
     27
28-- Then check for the device:
     29
     30    $ ls -las /dev | grep -i usb
     310 crw-rw-rw-   1 wheel      18,   6  7 Nov 20:14 tty.usbserial-FTU838HKB
     320 crw-rw-rw-   1 wheel      18,   4  7 Nov 20:14 tty.usbserial-FTU838HKA
     330 crw-rw-rw-   1 wheel      18,   7  7 Nov 20:14 cu.usbserial-FTU838HKB
     340 crw-rw-rw-   1 wheel      18,   5  7 Nov 20:14 cu.usbserial-FTU838HKA
     35
     36And Bob's your uncle.
